WILLIAMSJI MAVELI writes on   on Cherie Sumner's Poem " Stampede"

I laugh until I cry, then cry until I laugh
Hoping my heart will not get torn in half
Your words hit me like horses in a headlong rush
Trampling my emotions with hooves that kick and crush
( A stampede literally means  an act of mass impulse among herd animals herd or a crowd of people in which the herd or the crowd collectively begins running with no clear direction or purpose.. This may happen in various situations in different countries according to their political and social and cultural actions or its after effects. Here Poetess is emphasis the stampede of herd of horses which she like the most.)
I am vulnerable, standing on shaky ground
Allowing your boisterous thunder to tread and pound
While you flail insults like dirt clods and flinging rocks
I cower under the pressure, taking your knocks
(Group associated with stampede behavior include wild horses, cattle, elephants, rhinoceros and also humans I am very particular to state that, each stanza  is worthy of praise and admiration to Poetess Cherie Sumner)
Just when I think the stampede is about to end
You change direction, come back to trample again
Once out of control, your panicked herd instincts stay
I am crushed under your hooves, no place to get away
(The Poetess depiction of the scenes or visuals are excellent. A reader  could see the stampede, loud and clear running over the words upon read, and it takes   in our stride,  Congrats and I am proud of who you are, great expression of angering words with force, again well narrated by the Poetess Cherie Sumner)
Despite your wild driving force beating my soul down
I refuse to hate; Christ loved me in his thorny crown
I forgive your charging herd, your need to stampede
God’s spirit of love leads upon a gentle white steed
(The lines are having such an in depth thoughts and painful on God's love and kindness which is the most honorable and noble cause in all kinds tragedies of historical events.)

A stampede is an act of mass impulse among a crowd of people. The poem is highly powerful in nature and for the faith and unconquerable spirit that drives the Poetess to be bold and beautiful in all respects by this verse.  The worship to God and love in return from God is stronger than any revulsion of man, and the poem focus on God's ways of loving to teach and lead us in our daily life. Every stanza is well written, with stirring and persuasive contents, the metaphor, pitch, rhythm; musicality, transitions, and tempo at its maximum powers and that Spirit of God is love.  If we connect to that, there is no room for aversions or hatreds in life. This is the message from the Poetess Cherie Sumner.
Anything unusual may start a stampede. Especially at night, things such as lighting a match, someone jumping off a horse, a horse shaking itself, a lightning strike, tumbleweed blown into the herd, or "a horse running through a herd kicking at a saddle which has turned under its belly have been known to cause stampedes. A large stampede typically eliminates everything in its path. With livestock, cowboys attempt to turn the moving herd into itself, so that it runs in circles rather than running off a cliff or into a river and avoids damaging human life or property. Tactics used to make the herd turn into itself include firing a pistol, which creates noise to make the leaders of the stampede turn.

Animals that stampede, especially cattle, are less likely to do so after having eaten and spread out in smaller groups to digest. To further reduce the risk of stampedes, cowboys sometimes sing or whistle to calm the herds disquieted by nightfall. Those on watch at night avoid doing things which could startle the herd and even distance themselves before dismounting a horse or lighting a match.Sometimes people purposefully induce cattle to stampede as a component of warfare or hunting. Or even to kill them at a buffalo jump
Human stampedes most often occur during religious pilgrimages and professional sporting and music events, as these events tend to involve a large number of people. They also occur in times of panic (e.g. as a result of a fire or explosion) as people try to get away. However, more common causes are when the crowd are trying to get toward something as in the former examples, because the crowd is so big that those in the back continue pushing forward not knowing that those in the front are being crushed.
As mentioned earlier by this writer, Cherie Sumner is a world class poetess, The metaphor is powerful and touches all the senses, that alone makes this poem extraordinary, a stampede is Omani-present Wonderful and a marvelous poetic creation from the golden pen of Cherie Sumner
